ۗ ۗ ۚ ۖ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْقِصَاصُ فِي الْقَتْلَى الْحُرُّ بِالْحُرِّ وَالْعَبْدُ بِالْعَبْدِ وَالْأُنثَى بِالْأُنثَى فَمَنْ عُفِيَ لَهُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ شَيْءٌ فَاتِّبَاعٌ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَأَدَاءٌ إِلَيْهِ بِإِحْسَانٍ ذَلِكَ تَخْفِيفٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَرَحْمَةٌ فَمَنِ اعْتَدَى بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَلَهُ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

يَا أَيُّهَا

الَّذِينَ

believe[d]
كُتِبَ
kutiba
Prescribed
عَلَيْكُمُ
alaykumu
for you
الْقِصَاصُ
al-qisasu
(is) the legal retribution
فِي
fi
in
الْقَتْلَى
al-qatla
(the matter of) the murdered
الْحُرُّ
al-huru
the freeman
بِالْحُرِّ
bil-huri
for the freeman
وَالْعَبْدُ
wal-'abdu
and the slave
بِالْعَبْدِ
bil-'abdi
for the slave
وَالْأُنثَى
wal-untha
and the female
بِالْأُنثَى
bil-untha
for the female
فَمَنْ
faman
But whoever
عُفِيَ
ufiya
is pardoned
لَهُ
lahu
[for it]
مِنْ
min
from
أَخِيهِ
akhihi
his brother
شَيْءٌ
shayon
anything
فَاتِّبَاعٌ
fa-ittiba'un
then follows up
بِالْمَعْرُوفِ
bil-ma'rufi
with suitable
وَأَدَاءٌ
wa-adaon
[and] payment
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhi
to him
بِإِحْسَانٍ
bi-ih'sanin
with kindness
ذَلِكَ
dhalika
That (is)
تَخْفِيفٌ
takhfifun
a concession
مِّن
min
from
رَّبِّكُمْ
rabbikum
your Lord
وَرَحْمَةٌ
warahmatun
and mercy
فَمَنِ
famani
Then whoever
اعْتَدَى
i'tada
transgresses
بَعْدَ
ba'da
after
ذَلِكَ
dhalika
that
فَلَهُ
falahu
then for him
عَذَابٌ
adhabun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ
alimun
painful
