Let me share what the available sources do tell us:
What is Al-Kursi?
According to the narration from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father), the Kursi is the place where the two Feet of Allah rest, while the 'Arsh (Throne) is so immense that no one can truly estimate its size. He said:
> « "Al-Kursî", Le Marchepied, est l'endroit des deux Pieds. Quant à "Al-'Arsh", Le Trône, nul ne peut l'estimer à sa juste mesure ! »
> [Source 7 — Rapporté par Ibn Khuzaymah in At-Tawheed, and 'Abdullah ibn Ahmad in As-Sunnah — Authentic]
This means that Al-Kursi is a real, created entity that belongs to Allah, and it is where His two Feet rest. As for Al-'Arsh, it is a creation of immense size whose true dimensions only Allah knows.
The believers in Paradise
The Quran also describes the believers in the Hereafter as reclining on elevated thrones and couches, looking at the blessings around them:
- "Sur les divans, ils regardent." [Coran, Sourate Al-Mutaffifin:23]
- "Là, des divans élevés" [Coran, Sourate Al-Ghaashiya:13]
- "sur des lits, face à face." [Coran, Sourate As-Saaffaat:44]
- "eux et leurs épouses sont sous des ombrages, accoudés sur les divans." [Coran, Sourate Yaseen:56]
- "dans un séjour de vérité, auprès d'un Souverain Omnipotent." [Coran, Sourate Al-Qamar:55]
