What is Asma ul Husna?
The 99 Names of Allah, called Asma ul Husna (the most beautiful names), are the divine attributes mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Allah has 99 names, one hundred minus one. Whoever memorizes them will enter Paradise." (Bukhari). Each name reveals an aspect of Allah's greatness and mercy. Allah says in the Quran: "And to Allah belong the most beautiful names, so invoke Him by them." (Surah Al-A'raf, 7:180). These names are not mere words, but perfect divine attributes that help us know our Creator and draw closer to Him through worship and supplication.
Virtues of Learning the 99 Names
Learning and understanding the 99 Names of Allah is a major act of worship in Islam. The Prophet ๏ทบ said: "Allah has 99 names, one hundred minus one. Whoever memorizes them (ahsaha) will enter Paradise." (Bukhari and Muslim). The word "ahsaha" does not simply mean memorizing them by heart, but also understanding them, contemplating them, and acting accordingly.
