His character was unmatched among people. Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the best of people in character" [Sahih Bukhari 6203]. He was also the most generous and the most courageous, as Anas reported that when the people of Madinah were frightened by a noise at night, the Prophet ﷺ rode out ahead of everyone to confront it, saying, "Do not be afraid" [Sahih Bukhari 2908].
His humility was remarkable. When a Bedouin questioned his modest way of sitting, he replied, "Allah has made me a noble servant, not an obstinate tyrant" [Sahih Muslim 2310]. Anas, who served him for ten years, testified: "He never once said 'Uff' to me, nor asked why I did something, nor why I didn't" [Sahih Bukhari 6203].
The Qur'an confirms this: "Indeed, you have in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example" [Qur'an, Al-Ahzaab:21].
