Let me explain this clearly.
The difference between sin and kufr
In Islam, a distinction is made between:
- Kufr (disbelief) — rejecting Allah, His messengers, or core beliefs of the religion.
- Major sins (kabâ'ir) — forbidden acts that are grave but do not remove a person from the fold of Islam, as long as they don't deny that these acts are forbidden.
Committing or watching forbidden sexual acts falls into the second category. It is a grave sin, but the person remains a Muslim — unless they explicitly deny that Allah has forbidden it, or mock the ruling, which would then be a matter of disbelief.
Why this act is forbidden
Islam strictly prohibits any sexual act outside of what Allah has permitted between spouses, and it also forbids looking at what is unlawful. The Qur'an commands:
> "Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their chastity. That is purer for them." [Coran, Sourate An-Noor:30]
And Allah says:
> "And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way." [Coran, Sourate Al-Israa:32]
The Prophet ﷺ warned that the eyes themselves commit fornication through looking, the ears through listening, and the heart through desire — and the private parts confirm or deny this. [Sahih Bukhari & Muslim, source 8898]
Regarding anal intercourse specifically
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Cursed is the one who has anal intercourse with his wife." [Sunan Abu Dawud 2162, graded good] And in another narration: "Allah does not look at a man who approaches a man or a woman anally." [Sunan At-Tirmidhi 1165, authentic]
So even within marriage, this act is forbidden. Watching others perform it is even more clearly prohibited, as it combines several sins: looking at the unlawful, exposing oneself to immorality, and potentially spreading corruption.
What to do if you've fallen into this
The Prophet ﷺ advised: "Avoid this filth which Allah has prohibited. Whoever commits it, let him conceal himself with Allah's concealment and repent to Allah." [Al-Hakim, authentic, source 58240]
So the path is:
1. Stop immediately and turn away from such content.
2. Repent sincerely (tawbah) — feel regret, ask Allah's forgiveness, and resolve not to return to it.
3. Guard your gaze — this is the first defense. Block the sources of these images.
4. Don't despair — Allah's mercy is vast, and He accepts the repentance of those who turn to Him.
A practical tip: Use the features in your Al Muslim Plus app to strengthen yourself — read the Qur'an daily (especially Surah An-Noor), keep up your prayers on time using the prayer times section, and make du'a asking Allah to purify your heart and gaze. You can find relevant supplications in the Invocations section of your app.
If you're struggling with this habit, consider consulting a knowledgeable scholar or imam for personal guidance — they can help you with a practical plan for repentance and self-discipline.
