Whoever has a sacrifice to slaughter, once the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah is declared, he should not take anything from his hair or his nails until he sacrifices

عَن أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ أُمِّ المُؤْمِنينَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رضي الله عنها قَالت: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ كَانَ لَهُ ذِبْحٌ يَذْبَحُهُ فَإِذَا أُهِلَّ هِلَالُ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ، فَلَا يَأْخُذَنَّ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ، وَلَا مِنْ أَظْفَارِهِ شَيْئًا حَتَّى يُضَحِّيَ».

Explanation

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) commanded those who intend to offer a sacrifice not to cut hair from their head, armpits, or mustache, nor to cut any of their fingernails or toenails until they have offered their sacrifice, once the new moon of Dhul-Hijjah has appeared.
