Hijrah will not cease so long as the disbelievers are being fought
عن عبد الله بن وقدان السعدي قال: وَفَدْتُ إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في وفد كُلُّنَا يَطلبُ حَاجة، وكنتُ آخرهم دُخُولاً على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ، فقلتُ: يا رسول الله، إني تَركتُ من خلفي وهم يَزْعُمُون أنَّ الهجرة قد انقطعت، قال: «لا تنقطع الهجرة ما قُوتِلَ الكُفَّارُ».
Explanation
This noble Companion went to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) with a group of his people to ask him for things. He was the last one to enter upon the Messenger of Allah. One of his questions was that some people that he had left behind were saying that Hijrah had come to an end.
So the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) told him that Hijrah from the land of disbelief to the land of Islam would not cease so long as the Muslims are in fight with the disbelievers. However, Hijrah from Makkah to Madīnah had ceased based on the Hadīth: ''There is no Hijrah after the Conquest (of Makkah).'' [Al-Bukhāri and Muslim]
