Do not enter the dwellings of those who have wronged themselves, unless you are weeping

When passing by the dwellings of Thamūd, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade entering the dwellings of those punished people, who wronged themselves, or visiting them, unless the one entering is weeping and reflecting upon their fate, out of fear that the same punishment that befell them might befall him. Then, he commanded his mount to hasten and passed quickly, leaving the area behind.
