The bell is the musical instrument of the Satan
عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «الجَرَسُ مَزَامِيرُ الشَّيطَان».
Explanation
The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informs in this Hadīth that bells that are hung on animals are one of the musical instruments of Satan whereby he distracts people from the purpose for which they were created.
As for the bells used for alerting people, the Standing Committee gave this Fatwa: "The bells used in houses, schools, and the like are permissible unless they involve something prohibited, like being similar to church bells or producing a musical sound, in which case they would be prohibited."
