Surah Al-An'am 6:97 — translation and meaning

ۗ وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ النُّجُومَ لِتَهْتَدُوا بِهَا فِي ظُلُمَاتِ الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ

وَالْبَحْرِ
wal-bahri
and the sea
قَدْ

Certainly
فَصَّلْنَا
fassalna
We have made clear
الْآيَاتِ
al-ayati
the Signs
لِقَوْمٍ
liqawmin
for a people
يَعْلَمُونَ
ya'lamuna
(who) know

Transliteration

Wa Huwal lazee ja'ala lakumun nujooma litahtadoo bihaa fee zulumaatil barri walbahr; qad fassalnal Aayaati liqawminy ya'lamoon

Translation

And it is He who placed for you the stars that you may be guided by them through the darknesses of the land and sea. We have detailed the signs for a people who know.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

He, may He be glorified, is the One who created for you, O children of Adam, the stars in the sky, so that you may be guided by them during your travels when the routes on the land and sea are unclear. I have explained the proofs and evidences that indicate My power for a people who reflect and take benefit from them.
