Surah Al-Anbiya 21:74 — translation and meaning
الأنبياء · Verse 74 / 112 · Page 328
ۗ وَلُوطًا آتَيْنَاهُ حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا وَنَجَّيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْقَرْيَةِ الَّتِي كَانَت تَّعْمَلُ الْخَبَائِثَ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمَ سَوْءٍ فَاسِقِينَ
Word by Word
Transliteration
Wa Lootan aatainaahu hukmanw wa 'ilmanw wa najjainaahu minal qaryatil latee kaanat ta'malul khabaaa'is; innahum kaanoo qawma saw'in faasiqeen
Translation
And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient.
Verse interpretation (Tafsir)
ِAnd to Lot I granted the ability to judge fairly between disputing parties, together with sound knowledge of his religion. I also saved him from the punishment I sent upon the people of his village (Sodom) who were involved in immorality. Indeed, they were corrupt people who deviated from the worship of their Lord.
