ثُمَّ عَفَوْنَا عَنكُم مِّن بَعْدِ ذَلِكَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

Transliteration

Summa 'afawnaa 'ankum mim ba'di zaalika la'allakum tashkuroon

Translation

Then We forgave you after that so perhaps you would be grateful.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

Then Allah forgave you when you asked for forgiveness, and did not take you to account for it, so that you might be thankful to Him, worshipping Him in the best way and doing as He instructed.
