Surah Al-Fajr 89:16 — translation and meaning

وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ

(has) humiliated me

Transliteration

Wa ammaaa izaa mabtalaahu faqadara 'alaihi rizqahoo fa yaqoolu Rabbeee ahaanan

Translation

But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

And as for when He tests him by restricting his sustenance, he thinks it is because of his insignificance in the eyes of his Lord. So he says: “My Lord has disgraced me.”
