Surah Al-Hijr 15:6 — translation and meaning

وَقَالُوا يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِي نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّكْرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌ

Word by Word

وَقَالُوا
waqalu
And they say
يَاأَيُّهَا
yaayyuha
O you
الَّذِي
alladhi
(to) whom
نُزِّلَ
nuzzila
has been sent down
عَلَيْهِ
alayhi
[on him]
الذِّكْرُ
al-dhik'ru
the Reminder
إِنَّكَ
innaka
indeed you
لَمَجْنُونٌ
lamajnunun
(are) surely mad

Transliteration

Wa qaaloo yaaa aiyuhal lazee nuzzila 'alaihiz Zikru innaka lamajnoon

Translation

And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

The disbelievers from Makkah said to the Messenger (peace be upon him): O you to whom the remembrance was revealed (as the Messenger himself used to claim), your claims make you out to be one who is possessed, and you behave as possessed people do.
