قَدْ سَأَلَهَا قَوْمٌ مِّن قَبْلِكُمْ ثُمَّ أَصْبَحُوا بِهَا كَافِرِينَ

Transliteration

Qad sa alahaa qawmum min qablikum summa asbahoo bihaa kaafireen

Translation

A people asked such [questions] before you; then they became thereby disbelievers.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

A nation before you had asked about things not initially revealed to them. When they were then commanded to do them, they did not carry out the order; and became disbelievers as a result.
