Surah Al-Ma'ida 5:74 — translation and meaning

ۚ أَفَلَا يَتُوبُونَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَهُ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Transliteration

Afalaa yatooboona ilal laahi wa yastaghfiroonah; wallaahu Ghafoorur Raheem

Translation

So will they not repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness? And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

Will these people not retract this statement, repent to Allah and ask His forgiveness for the idolatry they committed? Allah is Forgiving towards the one who repents, whatever may have been the sin, even if it was disbelief. Allah is Compassionate to the believers.
