Surah Al-Qasas 28:86 — translation and meaning
القصص · Verse 86 / 88 · Page 396
ۖ وَمَا كُنتَ تَرْجُو أَن يُلْقَى إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابُ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ ظَهِيرًا لِّلْكَافِرِينَ
Word by Word
Transliteration
Wa maa kunta tarjooo ai yulqaaa ilaikal Kitaabu illaa rahmatam mir Rabbika falaa takoonanna zaheeral lilkaafireen
Translation
And you were not expecting that the Book would be conveyed to you, but [it is] a mercy from your Lord. So do not be an assistant to the disbelievers.
Verse interpretation (Tafsir)
O Messenger, you did not expect, before prophethood, that the Qur’ān would be revealed to you, as revelation from Allah. However, His mercy required it to be revealed to you, so do not be a helper to the disbelievers in the misguidance they are upon.
