Surah An-Nisa 4:146 — translation and meaning

النساء · Verse 146 / 176 · Page 101

ۖ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ تَابُوا وَأَصْلَحُوا وَاعْتَصَمُوا بِاللَّهِ وَأَخْلَصُوا دِينَهُمْ لِلَّهِ فَأُولَئِكَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَسَوْفَ يُؤْتِ اللَّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا

الَّذِينَ

تَابُوا

repent
وَأَصْلَحُوا

and correct (themselves)
وَاعْتَصَمُوا
wa-i'tasamu
and hold fast
بِاللَّهِ
bil-lahi
to Allah
وَأَخْلَصُوا
wa-akhlasu
and are sincere
دِينَهُمْ
dinahum
(in) their religion
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
for Allah
فَأُولَئِكَ
fa-ulaika
then those (will be)
مَعَ
ma'a
with
الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
al-mu'minina
the believers
وَسَوْفَ
wasawfa
And soon
يُؤْتِ
yu'ti
will be given
اللَّهُ
al-lahu
(by) Allah
الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
al-mu'minina
the believers
أَجْرًا
ajran
a reward
عَظِيمًا
aziman
great

Transliteration

Illal lazeena taaboo wa aslahoo wa'tasamoo billaahi wa akhlasoo deenahum lillaahi faulaaa'ika ma'al mu'mineena wa sawfa yu'til laahul mu'mineena ajran 'azeemaa

Translation

Except for those who repent, correct themselves, hold fast to Allah, and are sincere in their religion for Allah, for those will be with the believers. And Allah is going to give the believers a great reward.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

But those who turn to Allah repenting from their hypocrisy, correct themselves, hold on to Allah’s pledge and are sincere to Him in their practice, without showing off, such people will be with the believers in this world and the Afterlife. Allah will give the believers a huge reward.
