Surah Ar-Rahman 55:37 — translation and meaning

فَإِذَا انشَقَّتِ السَّمَاءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَالدِّهَانِ

Word by Word

فَإِذَا
fa-idha
Then when
انشَقَّتِ
inshaqqati
is split
السَّمَاءُ
al-samau
the heaven
فَكَانَتْ
fakanat
and it becomes
وَرْدَةً
wardatan
rose-colored
كَالدِّهَانِ
kal-dihani
like murky oil

Transliteration

Fa-izan shaqqatis samaaa'u fakaanat wardatan kaddihaan

Translation

And when the heaven is split open and becomes rose-colored like oil -

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

When the sky will split open for the angels to descend from it and it will be red like molten lead or the like due to the terror of the day of judgment.
