Surah Ash-Shura 42:26 — translation and meaning

ۚ وَيَسْتَجِيبُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَيَزِيدُهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِ وَالْكَافِرُونَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ

Word by Word

وَيَسْتَجِيبُ
wayastajibu
And He answers
الَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
آمَنُوا
amanu
believe
وَعَمِلُوا
wa'amilu
and do
الصَّالِحَاتِ
al-salihati
righteous deeds
وَيَزِيدُهُم
wayaziduhum
and increases (for) them
مِّن
min
from
فَضْلِهِ
fadlihi
His Bounty
وَالْكَافِرُونَ
wal-kafiruna
And the disbelievers
لَهُمْ
lahum
for them
عَذَابٌ
adhabun
(will be) a punishment
شَدِيدٌ
shadidun
severe

Transliteration

Wa yastajeebul lazeena aamanoo wa 'amilu saalihaati wa yazeeduhum min fadlih; wal kaafiroona lahum 'azaabun shadeed

Translation

And He answers [the supplication of] those who have believed and done righteous deeds and increases [for] them from His bounty. But the disbelievers will have a severe punishment.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

He responds to the supplication of those who have faith in Allah and His messengers, and gives them more out of His bounty that they did not ask for. Those who reject Allah and His messengers will have a strong punishment awaiting them on the day of resurrection.
