Surah At-Taghabun 64:12 — translation and meaning

ۚ وَأَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ فَإِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَى رَسُولِنَا الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِينُ

So obey
اللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
وَأَطِيعُوا
wa-ati'u
and obey
الرَّسُولَ
al-rasula
the Messenger;
فَإِن
fa-in
but if
تَوَلَّيْتُمْ
tawallaytum
you turn away
فَإِنَّمَا
fa-innama
then only
عَلَى
ala
upon
رَسُولِنَا
rasulina
Our Messenger
الْبَلَاغُ
al-balaghu
(is) the conveyance
الْمُبِينُ
al-mubinu
clear

Transliteration

Wa atee'ul laaha wa atee'ur Rasool; fa in tawallaitum fa innamaa 'alaa Rasoolinal balaaghul mubeen

Translation

And obey Allah and obey the Messenger; but if you turn away - then upon Our Messenger is only [the duty of] clear notification.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

Follow Allah and follow the Messenger. If you turn away from what the Messenger brought to you, then the sin of such turning away is to your detriment. The Messenger’s duty is only to convey what I have instructed him to convey, and He has conveyed what he was instructed to convey.
