Surah Az-Zumar 39:17 — translation and meaning

ۚ وَالَّذِينَ اجْتَنَبُوا الطَّاغُوتَ أَن يَعْبُدُوهَا وَأَنَابُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ لَهُمُ الْبُشْرَى فَبَشِّرْ عِبَادِ

الطَّاغُوتَ

the false gods

يَعْبُدُوهَا

they worship them
وَأَنَابُوا
wa-anabu
and turn
إِلَى
ila

اللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
لَهُمُ
lahumu
for them
الْبُشْرَى
al-bush'ra
(is) the glad tiding
فَبَشِّرْ
fabashir
So give glad tidings
عِبَادِ
ibadi
(to) My slaves

Transliteration

Wallazeenaj tanabut Taaghoota ai ya'budoohaa wa anaabooo ilal laahi lahumul bushraa; fabashshir 'ibaad

Translation

But those who have avoided Taghut, lest they worship it, and turned back to Allah - for them are good tidings. So give good tidings to My servants

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

Those who avoid the worship of idols, and anything else that is worshipped besides Allah, and return to Allah in repentance, they will have the good news of Paradise when they pass away, in the grave and on the day of resurrection. So give good news, O Messenger, to My servants.
