Surah Fussilat 41:43 — translation and meaning

ۚ مَّا يُقَالُ لَكَ إِلَّا مَا قَدْ قِيلَ لِلرُّسُلِ مِن قَبْلِكَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُو مَغْفِرَةٍ وَذُو عِقَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

Transliteration

Maa yuqaalu laka illaa maa qad qeela lir Rusuli min qablik; inna Rabbaka lazoo maghfiratinw wa zoo 'iqaabin aleem

Translation

Nothing is said to you, [O Muhammad], except what was already said to the messengers before you. Indeed, your Lord is a possessor of forgiveness and a possessor of painful penalty.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

O Messenger! The rejection directed towards you is nothing but the same that has been directed towards the messengers before you, so be patient, because your Lord Forgiving of those of His servants who repent to Him, but one who is painfully punishing of those who insist on their sins and do not repent.
