Surah Hud 11:71 — translation and meaning

وَامْرَأَتُهُ قَائِمَةٌ فَضَحِكَتْ فَبَشَّرْنَاهَا بِإِسْحَاقَ وَمِن وَرَاءِ إِسْحَاقَ يَعْقُوبَ

وَامْرَأَتُهُ
wa-im'ra-atuhu
And his wife
قَائِمَةٌ

فَضَحِكَتْ
fadahikat
and she laughed
فَبَشَّرْنَاهَا
fabasharnaha
Then We gave her glad tidings
بِإِسْحَاقَ
bi-is'haqa
of Ishaq
وَمِن
wamin
and after
وَرَاءِ
warai
and after
إِسْحَاقَ
is'haqa
Isaac
يَعْقُوبَ
ya'quba
(of) Yaqub

Transliteration

Wamra atuhoo qaaa'imatun fadahikat fabashsharnaahaa bi Ishaaqa wa minw waraaa'i Ishaaqa Ya'qoob

Translation

And his Wife was standing, and she smiled. Then We gave her good tidings of Isaac and after Isaac, Jacob.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

Abraham’s wife, Sarah, was standing. Then they told her something that greatly pleased her, that she would bear Isaac, and that Isaac would have Jacob. She laughed and was delighted by what she heard.
