Surah Ta-Ha 20:113 — translation and meaning

وَكَذَلِكَ أَنزَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا وَصَرَّفْنَا فِيهِ مِنَ الْوَعِيدِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ أَوْ يُحْدِثُ لَهُمْ ذِكْرًا

Word by Word

وَكَذَلِكَ
wakadhalika
And thus
أَنزَلْنَاهُ
anzalnahu
We have sent it down
قُرْآنًا
qur'anan
(the) Quran
عَرَبِيًّا
arabiyyan
(in) Arabic
وَصَرَّفْنَا
wasarrafna
and We have explained
فِيهِ
fihi
in it
مِنَ
mina
of
الْوَعِيدِ
al-wa'idi
the warnings
لَعَلَّهُمْ
la'allahum
that they may
يَتَّقُونَ
yattaquna
fear
أَوْ
aw
or
يُحْدِثُ
yuh'dithu
it may cause
لَهُمْ
lahum
[for] them
ذِكْرًا
dhik'ran
remembrance

Transliteration

Wa kazaalika anzalnaahu Qur-aanan 'Arabiyyanw wa sarrafnaa fee hi minal wa'eedi la'allahum yattaqoona aw yuhdisu lahum zikraa

Translation

And thus We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an and have diversified therein the warnings that perhaps they will avoid [sin] or it would cause them remembrance.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

I have revealed the Qur’ān in clear Arabic just as I revealed the stories of the previous prophets, and I have explained in it different warnings of threat and fear, in the hope they will fear Allah or that the admonition of the Qur’ān will cause them to reflect.
