ۖ قَالَ بَلْ أَلْقُوا فَإِذَا حِبَالُهُمْ وَعِصِيُّهُمْ يُخَيَّلُ إِلَيْهِ مِن سِحْرِهِمْ أَنَّهَا تَسْعَى

Transliteration

Qaala bal alqoo fa izaa hibaaluhum wa 'isiyyuhum yuhaiyalu ilaihi min sihrihim annahaa tas'aa

Translation

He said, "Rather, you throw." And suddenly their ropes and staffs seemed to him from their magic that they were moving [like snakes].

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

Moses (peace be upon him) said: Rather, you throw what you have first. So they threw what they had and suddenly their ropes and sticks that they had thrown seemed to Moses, because of their magic, to be snakes moving quickly.
