قَالُوا سُبْحَانَكَ مَا كَانَ يَنبَغِي لَنَا أَن نَّتَّخِذَ مِن دُونِكَ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ وَلَكِن مَّتَّعْتَهُمْ وَآبَاءَهُمْ حَتَّى نَسُوا الذِّكْرَ وَكَانُوا قَوْمًا بُورًا
كلمة بكلمة
قَالُوا

They say
سُبْحَانَكَ
sub'hanaka
Glory be to You
مَا
ma
Not
كَانَ
kana
it was proper
يَنبَغِي
yanbaghi
it was proper
لَنَا
lana
for us
أَن

that
نَّتَّخِذَ
nattakhidha
we take
مِن
min
besides You
دُونِكَ
dunika
besides You
مِنْ

أَوْلِيَاءَ
awliyaa
protectors
وَلَكِن
walakin
But
مَّتَّعْتَهُمْ
matta'tahum
You gave them comforts
وَآبَاءَهُمْ
waabaahum
and their forefathers
حَتَّى
hatta
until
نَسُوا
nasu
they forgot
الذِّكْرَ
al-dhik'ra
the Message
وَكَانُوا
wakanu
and became
قَوْمًا
qawman
a people
بُورًا
buran
ruined
