Let me explain who he is more fully.
His role and status
Muhammad ﷺ is not divine — he is a human being chosen by Allah to convey His message. The Quran makes this clear: he is a messenger, like the messengers before him, and he is the seal of the prophets — meaning no prophet comes after him.
Allah says: *"Muhammad is no more than a messenger: many were the messengers that passed away before him..."* [Coran, Sourate Aal-i-Imraan:144]
And: *"Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but (he is) the Messenger of Allah, and the Seal of the Prophets: and Allah has full knowledge of all things."* [Coran, Sourate Al-Ahzaab:40]
His mission
He was sent to a people who had no scripture, to recite Allah's verses to them, to purify them, and to teach them the Book and wisdom. Before his coming, they were in clear misguidance. [Coran, Sourate Al-Jumu'a:2]
His names
The Prophet ﷺ himself mentioned several of his names. In an authentic hadith he said: *"I have five names: I am Muhammad, I am Ahmad, I am Al-Māhi (the effacer), by whom Allah effaces disbelief, I am Al-Hāshir (the gatherer), at whose feet people will be gathered, and I am Al-'Āqib (the last)."* [Sahih Bukhari & Muslim, hadith 10860 — authentic]
In another authentic narration he said: *"I am Muhammad, Ahmad, Al-Muqaffi, Al-Hāshir, and the Prophet of Mercy."* [Musnad Ahmad & Sahih Muslim, hadith 10861 — authentic]
His life in brief
He was sent as a prophet at the age of forty. He stayed in Mecca for thirteen years receiving revelation, then was commanded to emigrate (to Medina), where he lived for ten years, and he died at the age of sixty-three. [Sahih Bukhari & Muslim, hadith 10975 — authentic]
His special closeness to believers
The Prophet ﷺ has more right over the believers than they have over their own selves, and his wives are considered the mothers of the believers. [Coran, Sourate Al-Ahzaab:6]
