81 Hadith
The Quran is the word of Allah revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). These hadiths teach the merits of its recitation, learning and practice.
‘Uqbah ibn ‘Āmir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I fear two things for my Ummah: the Qur’an and milk. As for milk, they seek the countryside, follow desires, and neglect the prayers. As for the Qur’an, the hypocrites learn it to argue with the believers by means of it."
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you recite Sūrat al-Fātihah, recite 'In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful'. It is the mother of the Qur'an, the mother of the Book, and the seven oft-repeated verses, and 'In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful' is one of these verses
‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to make me sit with the elderly men who had fought in the Battle of Badr. Some of them did not like that and said to ‘Umar: "Why do you bring in this boy to sit with us while we have sons like him?" ‘Umar replied: "Because of his status, which you already know about." One day ‘Umar called me and made me sit in the gathering of those people; and I think that he called me just to show them. ‘Umar then asked them: "What do you say about the verse that says: {When there comes the help of Allah and the conquest} [Sūrat An-Nasr: 1]?" Some of them said: "We are ordered to praise Allah and ask for His forgiveness when He helps us and grants us victory." Some others kept quiet and said nothing. Thereupon, ‘Umar asked me: "Do you say the same, O Ibn ‘Abbās?" I replied: ‘No.’ He said: "What do you say then?" I replied: "That is a sign of the Messenger’s death, of which Allah informed him. He says: O Muhammad, when there comes the help of Allah to you against your enemies and the Conquest of Makkah, which is a sign of your death, you should celebrate the praises of your Lord and ask for His forgiveness; verily, He is the One who accepts repentance." Upon that, ‘Umar said: "I do not know anything about it other than what you have said."
Sa‘īd ibn al-Musayyab reported that his father said: When Abu Tālib was about to die, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) came to him and found Abu Jahl and 'Abdullah ibn Abi' Umayyah ibn al-Mughīrah with him. He said: "O uncle, say: La ilāha illallāh (there is no god but Allah), a word with which I can defend you before Allah." Abu Jahl and 'Abdullah ibn Abi' Umayyah said: Would you abandon the religion of 'Abdul-Muttalib? The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) kept repeating his request, and they also kept repeating their words to him. The last thing Abu Tālib said to them was: On the religion of 'Abdul-Muttalib, refusing to say: There is no god but Allah. He said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, I shall continue seeking forgiveness for you unless I am forbidden from doing so." So Allah revealed: {It is not fitting for the Prophet and those who believe in seeking forgiveness for the polytheists.} [Surat at-Tawbah: 113]. Allah also revealed regarding Abu Tālib and addressing the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him): {You cannot guide whoever you like, but Allah guides whom He wills.} [Surat al-Qasas: 56]
‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said to me: "Recite to me". I said: O Messenger of Allah, shall I recite to you while it has been revealed to you? He replied: "Yes." So I recited Surat an-Nisā’ until I reached this verse: {How will it be when We bring a witness from every community, and bring you [O Prophet] as a witness against these [people]?} [Surat an-Nisā’: 41] He said: "Enough for now." As I looked at him, I saw that his eyes were shedding tears.
Ibn Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There should be no envy except in two (cases): A man whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it in the right way, and a man whom Allah has given wisdom and he judges according to it and teaches it to others." ‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There should be no envy except in two (cases): a man whom Allah has given (knowledge of) the Qur'an, and he recites it during the night and day, and a man whom Allah has given wealth, and he spends it during the night and day (in a rightful way).”
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Allah, Exalted and Glorified, sent down the Divine Revelation to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) abundantly during the period preceding his death until he died at a time when the revelation had never been more abundant.
‘Abdur-Rahmān ibn Yazīd An-Nakha‘i reported that he made Hajj with Ibn Mas‘ūd and he saw him stoning Jamrat al-‘Aqabah with seven stones; he stood such that the Ka‘bah was on his left and Mina was on his right then he said: "This is the standing place of the one to whom Sūrat al-Baqarah was revealed."

Upon their return to Madīnah, they mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), who said: "Ask him why he did so?" He was asked, and he responded: "This Sūrah contains the Attributes of Allah, the Gracious, and I love to recite it." If he keeps them tied, he will hold them; but if he releases them, they will run away."
Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) reported: "As Gabriel (Jibrīl) was sitting with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), he heard a creak from above. So, he raised his head and said: That is a gate in the heavens that was opened today; it has never been opened except today. An angel descended from it. He said: That is an angel that descended to earth; he has never descended except today. He gave the greeting of peace and said: Have glad tidings with two lights that have been given to you, which no prophet before you has been given: Surat al-Fātihah and the concluding verses of Surat al-Baqarah. You will not read one letter of them except that you will be given it."
Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "If [a man] forbids his wife, this is nothing." He further quoted: {There is in the Messenger of Allah a good example to you.} [Sūrat al-Ahzāb: 21]

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) died while these (words of the abrogating verse) were still being recited as part of the Qur'an.
Abu Juhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I asked ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): "Do you have any of the revelation, other than what is in Allah's Book?" He said: "No, by Him Who grows the grain and originates the soul, I have nothing other than the understanding of the Qur'an, which Allah bestows upon some people, and what is written on this sheet." I asked: "What is written on that sheet?" He replied: "(Injunctions on) blood money, the freeing of captives, and that a Muslim should not be killed for a disbeliever."
Abu Mūsa al-Ash‘ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep on reciting this Qur'an, for by the One in Whose Hand my soul is, the Qur'an slips away from memory faster than camels escaping their tying ropes."

As it began to come nearer and nearer, the horse began to trample violently.
