Surah Al-An'am 6:113 — translation and meaning

الأنعام · Verse 113 / 165 · Page 142

وَلِتَصْغَى إِلَيْهِ أَفْئِدَةُ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ وَلِيَرْضَوْهُ وَلِيَقْتَرِفُوا مَا هُم مُّقْتَرِفُونَ

Word by Word

وَلِتَصْغَى
walitasgha
And so that incline
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhi
to it
أَفْئِدَةُ
afidatu
hearts
الَّذِينَ
alladhina
(of) those who
لَا
la
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minuna
believe
بِالْآخِرَةِ
bil-akhirati
in the Hereafter
وَلِيَرْضَوْهُ
waliyardawhu
and so that they may be pleased with it
وَلِيَقْتَرِفُوا
waliyaqtarifu
and so that they may commit
مَا
ma
what
هُم
hum
they
مُّقْتَرِفُونَ
muq'tarifuna
(are) committing

Transliteration

Wa litasghaaa ilaihi af'idatul lazeena laa yu'minoona bil Aakhirati wa liyardawhu wa liyaqtarifoo maa hum muqtarifoon

Translation

And [it is] so the hearts of those who disbelieve in the Hereafter will incline toward it and that they will be satisfied with it and that they will commit that which they are committing.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

This is so that the hearts of those who do not accept the Afterlife may incline towards what they whisper to one another, happily accepting such things for themselves, and that they persist in committing the sins and wrongs they were doing.
