Surah Al-An'am 6:120 — translation and meaning

الأنعام · Verse 120 / 165 · Page 143

ۚ وَذَرُوا ظَاهِرَ الْإِثْمِ وَبَاطِنَهُ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَكْسِبُونَ الْإِثْمَ سَيُجْزَوْنَ بِمَا كَانُوا يَقْتَرِفُونَ

الْإِثْمِ

وَبَاطِنَهُ

and the secret
إِنَّ

Indeed
الَّذِينَ

those who
يَكْسِبُونَ
yaksibuna
earn
الْإِثْمَ
al-ith'ma

سَيُجْزَوْنَ
sayuj'zawna
they will be recompensed
بِمَا
bima
for what
كَانُوا
kanu
they used to
يَقْتَرِفُونَ
yaqtarifuna
commit

Transliteration

Wa zaroo zaahiral ismi wa baatinah; innal lazeena yaksiboonal ismaa sa yujzawna bimaa kaanoo yaqtarifoon

Translation

And leave what is apparent of sin and what is concealed thereof. Indeed, those who earn [blame for] sin will be recompensed for that which they used to commit.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

O people, avoid committing sins openly or in secret. Those who commit sins, secret or open, will be repaid by Allah for what they did.
