Surah Al-Anbiya 21:7 — translation and meaning
الأنبياء · Verse 7 / 112 · Page 322
ۖ وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوحِي إِلَيْهِمْ فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
Word by Word
ۖ
وَمَا
wama
And not
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalna
We sent
قَبْلَكَ
qablaka
before you
إِلَّا
illa
except
رِجَالًا
rijalan
men
نُّوحِي
nuhi
We revealed
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhim
to them
فَاسْأَلُوا
fasalu
So ask
أَهْلَ
ahla
(the) people
الذِّكْرِ
al-dhik'ri
(of) the Reminder
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you
لَا
la
(do) not
تَعْلَمُونَ
ta'lamuna
know
Transliteration
Wa maaa arsalnaa qablaka illaa rijaalan nooheee ilaihim fas'aloo ahlaz zikri in kuntum laa ta'lamoon
Translation
And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know.
Verse interpretation (Tafsir)
And I did not send before you, O Messenger, except men amongst humans to whom I would send revelation. I did not send them as angels, so ask the People of the Book before you if you do not know this.
