Surah Al-Anfal 8:61 — translation and meaning

ۚ وَإِن جَنَحُوا لِلسَّلْمِ فَاجْنَحْ لَهَا وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

And if
جَنَحُوا

لِلسَّلْمِ
lilssalmi
to peace
فَاجْنَحْ
fa-ij'nah
then you (also) incline
لَهَا
laha
to it
وَتَوَكَّلْ
watawakkal
and put (your) trust
عَلَى
ala
in
اللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
إِنَّهُ
innahu
Indeed
هُوَ
huwa
He
السَّمِيعُ
al-sami'u
(is) All-Hearer
الْعَلِيمُ
al-'alimu
All-Knower
Transliteration
Wa in janahoo lissalmi fajnah lahaa wa tawakkal 'alal laah; innahoo Huwas Samee'ul 'Aleem
Translation
And if they incline to peace, then incline to it [also] and rely upon Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Knowing.
Verse interpretation (Tafsir)
If they incline to a truce to give up fighting, then, O Messenger, do the same: enter into a truce with them and place your reliance and faith in Allah, because He will never desert you. He is the One Who hears your statements and knows your intentions and actions.
