Surah Al-'Ankabut 29:16 — translation and meaning

ۖ وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

Transliteration

Wa Ibraheema iz qaala liqawmihi' budul laaha wattaqoohu zaalikum khayrul lakum in kuntum ta'lamoon

Translation

And [We sent] Abraham, when he said to his people, "Worship Allah and fear Him. That is best for you, if you should know.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

O Messenger, remember the story of Abraham when he said to his people: “Worship Allah alone, and fear His punishment by carrying out His commands and refraining from His prohibitions. That which is being ordered that is better for you if you really want to know what is better for you.
