Surah Al-'Ankabut 29:3 — translation and meaning
العنكبوت · Verse 3 / 69 · Page 396
ۖ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْكَاذِبِينَ
Word by Word
ۖ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And indeed
فَتَنَّا
fatanna
We tested
الَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
مِن
min
(were) before them
قَبْلِهِمْ
qablihim
(were) before them
فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ
falaya'lamanna
And will surely make evident
اللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
الَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
صَدَقُوا
sadaqu
(are) truthful
وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ
walaya'lamanna
and will surely make evident
الْكَاذِبِينَ
al-kadhibina
the liars
Transliteration
Wa laqad fatannal lazeena min qablihim fala ya'lamannal laahul lazeena sadaqoo wa la ya'lamannal kaazibeen
Translation
But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars.
Verse interpretation (Tafsir)
I tested those before them, so Allah will make clear and disclose to you the truth of those who were true in their faith and the lie of those who were dishonest therein.
