Surah Al-'Ankabut 29:31 — translation and meaning

ۖ وَلَمَّا جَاءَتْ رُسُلُنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ بِالْبُشْرَى قَالُوا إِنَّا مُهْلِكُو أَهْلِ هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ إِنَّ أَهْلَهَا كَانُوا ظَالِمِينَ
Word by Word
Transliteration
Wa lammaa jaaa'at Rusulunaaa Ibraaheema bil bushraa qaalooo innaa muhlikoo ahli haazihil qaryati inna ahlahaa kaanoo zaalimeen
Translation
And when Our messengers came to Abraham with the good tidings, they said, "Indeed, we will destroy the people of that Lot's city. Indeed, its people have been wrongdoers."
Verse interpretation (Tafsir)
When the angels whom I had sent came to give good news to Abraham of Isaac and after him his son, Jacob, they said to him: We are going to destroy the people of the town of Sodom, the town of the people of Lot. Its people were wrongdoers because of the obscene act that they were doing.
