Surah Al-'Ankabut 29:6 — translation and meaning

ۚ وَمَن جَاهَدَ فَإِنَّمَا يُجَاهِدُ لِنَفْسِهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَغَنِيٌّ عَنِ الْعَالَمِينَ

فَإِنَّمَا

then only
يُجَاهِدُ

لِنَفْسِهِ

for himself

اللَّهَ

لَغَنِيٌّ
laghaniyyun
(is) Free from need
عَنِ
ani
of
الْعَالَمِينَ
al-'alamina
the worlds
Transliteration
Wa man jaahada fainnamaa yujaahidu linafsih; innal laaha laghaniyyun 'anil 'aalameen
Translation
And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself. Indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds.
Verse interpretation (Tafsir)
And whoever exerts himself by motivating it to guidance and staying far from disobedience, and whoever strives in the way of Allah, he is only doing so for his own benefit. Allah is Self-Sufficient and in no need of all the creation. Their obedience does not increase Him nor does their disobedience decrease Him.
