Surah Al-'Ankabut 29:66 — translation and meaning

ۖ لِيَكْفُرُوا بِمَا آتَيْنَاهُمْ وَلِيَتَمَتَّعُوا فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ

Word by Word

ۖ
لِيَكْفُرُوا
liyakfuru
So that they may deny
بِمَا
bima
[in] what
آتَيْنَاهُمْ
ataynahum
We have given them
وَلِيَتَمَتَّعُوا
waliyatamatta'u
and they may enjoy (themselves)
فَسَوْفَ
fasawfa
But soon
يَعْلَمُونَ
ya'lamuna
they will know

Transliteration

Li yakfuroo bimaaa aatainaahum wa li yatamatta'oo fasaw fa ya'lamoon

Translation

So that they will deny what We have granted them, and they will enjoy themselves. But they are going to know.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

They return to their idolatry so that they can continue showing ingratitude for My favours upon them and so that they can carry on enjoying the beauty of the worldly life. They will soon know the evil punishment that awaits them when they die.
