Transliteration

Wa qaaloo lai yadkhulal jannata illaa man kaana Hoodan aw Nasaaraa; tilka ammniyyuhum; qul haatoo burhaa nakum in kuntum saadiqeen

Translation

And they say, "None will enter Paradise except one who is a Jew or a Christian." That is [merely] their wishful thinking, Say, "Produce your proof, if you should be truthful."

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

The Jews and the Christians each said that Paradise would be for them alone. These were just their vain wishes and imaginings. Tell them, O Prophet, in reply, to bring proof of what they were claiming if they were telling the truth.
