Surah Al-Isra 17:86 — translation and meaning

وَلَئِن شِئْنَا لَنَذْهَبَنَّ بِالَّذِي أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُ لَكَ بِهِ عَلَيْنَا وَكِيلًا

Word by Word

وَلَئِن
wala-in
And if
شِئْنَا
shi'na
We willed
لَنَذْهَبَنَّ
lanadhhabanna
We (would) have surely taken away
بِالَّذِي
bi-alladhi
that which
أَوْحَيْنَا
awhayna
We have revealed
إِلَيْكَ
ilayka
to you
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
لَا
la
not
تَجِدُ
tajidu
you would find
لَكَ
laka
for you
بِهِ
bihi
concerning it
عَلَيْنَا
alayna
against Us
وَكِيلًا
wakilan
any advocate

Transliteration

Wa la'in shi'naa lanaz habanna billazeee awhainaaa ilaika summa laa tajidu laka bihee 'alainaa wakeelaa

Translation

And if We willed, We could surely do away with that which We revealed to you. Then you would not find for yourself concerning it an advocate against Us.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

By Allah, if I wanted to take away, O Messenger, the revelation I sent to you by erasing it from the hearts and books, I could take it away, then you would not find anyone to help you and take responsibility to return it.
