Surah Al-Jumu'a 62:11 — translation and meaning

ۚ ۚ وَإِذَا رَأَوْا تِجَارَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا انفَضُّوا إِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَائِمًا قُلْ مَا عِندَ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ مِّنَ اللَّهْوِ وَمِنَ التِّجَارَةِ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ

Say

inda
(is) with
اللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
خَيْرٌ
khayrun
(is) better
مِّنَ
mina
than
اللَّهْوِ
al-lahwi
the sport
وَمِنَ
wamina
and from
التِّجَارَةِ
al-tijarati
(any) transaction
وَاللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
خَيْرُ
khayru
(is the) Best
الرَّازِقِينَ
al-raziqina
(of) the Providers

Transliteration

Wa izaa ra'aw tijaaratan aw lahwanin faddooo ilaihaa wa tarakooka qaaa'imaa; qul maa 'indal laahi khairum minal lahwi wa minat tijaarah; wallaahu khayrur raaziqeen

Translation

But when they saw a transaction or a diversion, [O Muhammad], they rushed to it and left you standing. Say, "What is with Allah is better than diversion and than a transaction, and Allah is the best of providers."

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

When some Muslims see a trade or entertainment they disperse, going out towards it and leave you, O Messenger, standing on the pulpit. Say, O Messenger-: The recompense for righteous action with Allah is better than the trade and entertainment that you go out towards. Allah is the best of providers.
