Surah Ali 'Imran 3:111 — translation and meaning
آل عمران · Verse 111 / 200 · Page 64
ۖ لَن يَضُرُّوكُمْ إِلَّا أَذًى وَإِن يُقَاتِلُوكُمْ يُوَلُّوكُمُ الْأَدْبَارَ ثُمَّ لَا يُنصَرُونَ

يَضُرُّوكُمْ
yadurrukum
will they harm you
إِلَّا
illa
except
أَذًى
adhan
a hurt
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
يُقَاتِلُوكُمْ
yuqatilukum
they fight you
يُوَلُّوكُمُ
yuwallukumu
they will turn (towards) you
الْأَدْبَارَ
al-adbara
the backs
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
لَا
la
not
يُنصَرُونَ
yunsaruna
they will be helped
Transliteration
Lai yadurrookum 'illaaa azanw wa ai yuqaatilookum yuwallookumul adbaara summa laa yunsaroon
Translation
They will not harm you except for [some] annoyance. And if they fight you, they will show you their backs; then they will not be aided.
Verse interpretation (Tafsir)
If they are against you they will not harm you, O believers, in your belief, or in yourselves, except through their words: criticising your faith and making fun of you and so on. Also, if they fight you they will flee from you in defeat, and will never be victorious over you.
