Surah An-Najm 53:31 — translation and meaning

وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ لِيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسَاءُوا بِمَا عَمِلُوا وَيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا بِالْحُسْنَى

And for Allah

لِيَجْزِيَ

that He may recompense

those who
أَسَاءُوا
asau
do evil
بِمَا
bima
with what
عَمِلُوا
amilu
they have done
وَيَجْزِيَ
wayajziya
and recompense
الَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
أَحْسَنُوا
ahsanu
do good
بِالْحُسْنَى
bil-hus'na
with the best

Transliteration

Wa lillaahi maa fis samaawaati wa maa fil ardi liyajziyal lazeena asaaa'oo bimaa 'amiloo wa yajziyal lazeena ahsanoo bilhusnaa

Translation

And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth - that He may recompense those who do evil with [the penalty of] what they have done and recompense those who do good with the best [reward] -

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

To Allah alone belongs whatever is in the heavens and to Him alone belongs whatever is on earth. He created, owns and controls all of it. To recompense whose who do evil actions in the world with the punishment that they deserve and to repay the believers who do good actions with Paradise.
