Surah Ash-Shu'ara 26:139 — translation and meaning

ۗ ۖ فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Fakazzaboohu fa ahlaknaahum; inna fee zaalika la aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

Translation

And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

They continued rejecting their prophet Hud (peace be upon him), so I destroyed them due to their rejection by a barren wind. Indeed, there is a lesson in their destruction for those who take heed. Although most of them do not believe; they were rejecters.
