أَوْ يُوبِقْهُنَّ بِمَا كَسَبُوا وَيَعْفُ عَن كَثِيرٍ

Transliteration

Aw yoobiqhunna bimaa kasaboo wa ya'fu 'an kaseer

Translation

Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

Or if Allah, (may He be glorified), willed to destroy those ships by sending gale-force winds, He would have done so on account of the sins that people earn. He overlooks many of the sins of His servants and does not punish them for those.
