Surah Az-Zukhruf 43:37 — translation and meaning

وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْ عَنِ السَّبِيلِ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ

Word by Word

وَإِنَّهُمْ
wa-innahum
And indeed they
لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْ
layasuddunahum
surely turn them away
عَنِ
ani
from
السَّبِيلِ
al-sabili
the Path
وَيَحْسَبُونَ
wayahsabuna
and they think
أَنَّهُم
annahum
that they
مُّهْتَدُونَ
muh'taduna
(are) guided

Transliteration

Wa innahum la yasuddoo nahum 'anis sabeeli wa yahsaboona annahum muhtadoon

Translation

And indeed, the devils avert them from the way [of guidance] while they think that they are [rightly] guided

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

Indeed, these satan companions who have been set upon those who turn away from the Qur’ān, prevent them from the religion of Allah. They are unable to fulfil His commands and refrain from things He has not allowed; they think that they are guided to the truth and so they do not repent from their deviance.
