Surah Luqman 31:22 — translation and meaning

ۗ وَمَن يُسْلِمْ وَجْهَهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَى وَإِلَى اللَّهِ عَاقِبَةُ الْأُمُورِ

Word by Word

ۗ
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يُسْلِمْ
yus'lim
submits
وَجْهَهُ
wajhahu
his face
إِلَى
ila
to
اللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
while he
مُحْسِنٌ
muh'sinun
(is) a good- doer
فَقَدِ
faqadi
then indeed
اسْتَمْسَكَ
is'tamsaka
he has grasped
بِالْعُرْوَةِ
bil-'ur'wati
the handhold
الْوُثْقَى
al-wuth'qa
the most trustworthy
وَإِلَى
wa-ila
And to
اللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
عَاقِبَةُ
aqibatu
(is the) end
الْأُمُورِ
al-umuri
(of) the matters

Transliteration

Wa many yuslim wajha hooo ilal laahi wa huwa muhsinun faqadistamsaka bil'ur watil wusqaa; wa ilal laahi 'aaqibatul umoor

Translation

And whoever submits his face to Allah while he is a doer of good - then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold. And to Allah will be the outcome of [all] matters.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

Whoever turns to Allah sincerely devoting worship to Him and doing good deeds, he has held on to the firmest of things those who hope for salvation can hold on to. He will not fear whatever he has held on to being cut off. and to Allah alone return all affairs; He will requite each person as they deserve.
