Surah Ta-Ha 20:108 — translation and meaning

ۖ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَّبِعُونَ الدَّاعِيَ لَا عِوَجَ لَهُ وَخَشَعَتِ الْأَصْوَاتُ لِلرَّحْمَنِ فَلَا تَسْمَعُ إِلَّا هَمْسًا

Transliteration

Yawma iziny yattabi'oonad daa'iya laa 'iwaja lahoo wa khasha'atil aswaatu lir Rahmaani falaa tasma'u illaa hamsaa

Translation

That Day, everyone will follow [the call of] the Caller [with] no deviation therefrom, and [all] voices will be stilled before the Most Merciful, so you will not hear except a whisper [of footsteps].

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

On that day, people will follow the sound of the caller towards the gathering place. There will be nothing to divert them from following it. The voices will silence for the Merciful, out of fear, so you will not hear on this day except whispering.
