Surah Yusuf 12:22 — translation and meaning

ۚ وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ آتَيْنَاهُ حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا وَكَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ
Word by Word
ۚ
وَلَمَّا
walamma
And when
بَلَغَ
balagha
he reached
أَشُدَّهُ
ashuddahu
his maturity
آتَيْنَاهُ
ataynahu
We gave him
حُكْمًا
huk'man
wisdom
وَعِلْمًا
wa'il'man
and knowledge
وَكَذَلِكَ
wakadhalika
And thus
نَجْزِي
najzi
We reward
الْمُحْسِنِينَ
al-muh'sinina
the good-doers
Transliteration
Wa lammaa balagha ashuddahooo aatainaahu bukmanw wa 'ilmaa; wa kazaa lika najzil muhsineen
Translation
And when Joseph reached maturity, We gave him judgment and knowledge. And thus We reward the doers of good.
Verse interpretation (Tafsir)
When Joseph reached the height of his spiritual and physical strength, I gave him understanding and knowledge. With a reward similar to what I gave him, I reward those who do good by following Me.
