The final step of Umrah is shaving the head completely (Halq) or trimming the hair (Taqsir). For men, shaving the entire head is preferred and carries greater reward, though shortening the hair from all sides is also acceptable. For women, trimming a fingertip-length of hair from the ends is prescribed. After this step, the pilgrim exits the state of Ihram and all previously prohibited actions become permissible again, completing the Umrah.
Duas & Supplications
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي وَاهْدِنِي وَعَافِنِي وَارْزُقْنِي
Transliteration
Allahumma ighfir li warhamni wahdini wa 'afini warzuqni
Translation
O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, grant me well-being, and provide for me.
Practical Tips
- 1Men: Halq (full shave) is more rewarding than Taqsir (trim).
- 2Women: Only cut a fingertip-length from the ends of the hair — never shave.
- 3If performing Hajj Tamattu', do Taqsir after Umrah and save Halq for Hajj.
- 4Congratulations — after this step, your Umrah is complete!
